Kelly and Cogan Architects was founded in Dublin in 1999 by James Kelly and Denis Cogan to continue the work of James Kelly Architects.
Following Denis Cogan’s retirement in 2013, James Kelly became Principal of Kelly and Cogan Architects.
Our aspiration is to produce high quality architecture with a strong focus upon built heritage, community and culture.
We are a studio-based practice and approach each project with a specific and individual response to its brief and its physical and social context. We do not specialise in any building type and welcome the opportunity to work within new genres and typologies.
Our work encompasses a wide variety of project types ranging from conservation to education and varies in scale from city block master-planning to domestic scale intervention and we are expert in the conservation, adaptation and extension of historic buildings and new buildings in existing urban settings and in the integration of new and existing urban fabric and public space.
The nature of our work is such that primary research forms an important element of the overall practice: That research covers areas of academic and practical interest as diverse as: historic mapping and surveying, historic building materials and components and town and streetscape development and typologies.
We are an ISO 9001 Quality Assured (QA) practise and hold Grade One Conservation Accreditation Status from the Royal Institute of British Architects.
